Betatene® Natural Beta-Carotene

Betatene® is a naturally sourced beta-carotene derived from algae (Dunaliella salina) and part of the broad beta-carotene product range BASF offers. This natural beta-carotene offers a number of health benefits for the  eyes and skin. Sources of beta-carotene

Beta-carotene is a micronutrient which mainly occurs in yellow and orange fruits and vegetables, as well as in green leafy vegetables. It is widely known as provitamin A as it contributes to vitamin A supply, and an antioxidant.

Applications

Betatene® is known as a health ingredient and is mainly applied in dietary supplements, including soft gels, capsules and tablets. As provitamin A, beta-carotene is used for the fortification of multivitamin juices, beverages for athletes, food supplement preparations, health foods, etc.

Furthermore, in the food industry, beta-carotene is mainly used as a colorant in several foods such as lemonades, margarine, butter, edible oils, soup powders, pasta, baked goods, confectionery, ice cream, custard, cheese, yoghurt and other dairy products.
